Fantasy spin: Ward signs with Tampa Bay

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to have a shiny, new look in 2009.

The team has released veterans Derrick Brooks, Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard, passed on re-signing Jeff Garcia and added a new offensive weapon in Kellen Winslow. On Monday, the Bucs made their latest move by signing Derrick Ward to a four-year contract.

The deal shakes up the team’s backfield, but it makes the situation clearer for fantasy leaguers.

Fantasy spin: Bucs release Dunn, Galloway

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released five players on Wednesday, a list that included Warrick Dunn and Joey Galloway.

Dunn, 33, was able to make an impact for fantasy leaguers last season, finishing with 47 receptions and 1,116 yards from scrimmage. While his best statistical seasons are in the rearview mirror, Dunn should land with a club that needs a third-down back.

Players wanted change in Tampa Bay

Jon Gruden‘s firing as the Buccaneers’ head coach last week came as a surprise to those around the league. Gruden has a statue in the team’s training facility, for crying out loud — to honor Tampa Bay’s victory over the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII. So the firing, despite the team’s December collapse, seemed like a surprise. Unless you played for him, of course.

Graham’s injury opens door for Dunn

The Tampa Tribune is reporting that Earnest Graham has been placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the season with an injured ankle. He suffered the ailment in last Sunday’s win over the Vikings.

Bucs’ backfield takes a hit

Good thing the Buccaneers activated running back Cadillac Williams last week. Now they might be without running back earnest Graham the remainder of the season.

Gruden: Graham likely out for season

The Buccaneers defeated the Vikings in a key NFC showdown and remained a game behind the division-leading Panthers in the NFC South, but Tampa Bay may have lost two key players for the season in the victory.

More carries for Warrick Dunn

Earnest Graham limped off the field in the first quarter during Tampa Bay’s first drive against the Vikings. He appeared to injure his lower leg, but was able to leave the field under his own power.

Graham leaves game for Bucs

Bucs RB Earnest Graham, who was questionable against the Vikings this week with a sprained knee, limped off the field early in the first quarter during Tampa Bay’s first drive of the game and didn’t return.
