It was a tough day for wide receivers, as Houston’s Andre Johnson, Minnesota’s Bernard Berrian and Indianapolis’ Reggie Wayne all sustained injuries. Johnson and Berrian didn’t return, although Wayne did.

After being held out for a day of rest on Thursday, Colts S Bob Sanders (knee) was a full participant in practice on Friday and is expected to make his debut against the Rams. Sanders, the 2007 Defensive Player of the Year, hasn’t played in a game since January.

So maybe he did deserve to be the first wide receiver taken in the 2008 NFL Draft. Rams WR Donnie Avery has four catches for 113 yards with one touchdown in less than a half against New England. He’s become a much more viable fantasy starter in recent weeks.
