The Cam Newton show heads to Miami tonight as the Carolina Panthers tackle the Dolphins. Kevin Kolb and the Arizona Cardinals visit Green Bay and the Kansas City Chiefs travel to Baltimore on a night featuring six preseason games.
In his weekly chat, NFL.com senior analyst Pat Kirwan addressed a number of questions about what different teams might do when the free agency period gets started after the lockout ends. Kirwan said to expect things to happen almost immediately, because teams will already have spend significant time talking to agents.
Selection for the Pro Football Hall of Fame is on Saturday, with Marshall Faulk and Deion Sanders considered near-locks. The rest of the potential class is up for debate, but one name seems to be picking up considerable steam among the throng on radio row — tackle Willie Roaf.
Isaac Bruce never said much, but he always let his play do the talking. I hope the Hall of Fame voters recognize how Bruce played the game, because he gets my vote.
There’s no longer a question of whether Bill Cowher will coach next season. He will not. The more pertinent question is, will he ever coach again?
Dick Vermeil led the St. Louis Rams to a Super Bowl title. On Sunday the franchise will honor Vermeil by adding him to the Ring of Honor in the Edward Jones Dome at halftime of the Rams-Arizona game.
