The Pro Football Hall of Fame broke ground on a new expansion Friday on the front steps of the Hall, with dozens of returning Hall of Famers on hand. That included Canton native Dan Dierdorf — who was on hand as a kid to witness the original groundbreaking of the Hall in 1962.

When it comes to the greatest players in St. Louis Cardinals history, the list isn’t terribly long. So it came as somewhat of a surprise to us that two of the best players ever to don a St. Louis Cardinals uniform celebrate birthdays one day apart.

If there was any chance that Tarvaris Jackson might return to the Minnesota Vikings after the lockout is over, forget it. Jackson, who is working out in Minnesota with a group of players that includes Pro Bowl receiver Larry Fitzgerald, spoke yesterday and his words probably will make the split official.
