Though the name of Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has been floated in connection to the Broncos coaching vacancy, he insisted he is not a candidate. One reason Stoops-to-Denver speculation started is because Broncos owner Pat Bowlen has two degrees from the University of Oklahoma. But based on what Stoops said Saturday, speculation can cease.

Big name college coaches such as Pete Carroll and Bob Stoops will have their names bandied about as NFL teams scramble to fill coaching vacancies. But do college coaches ever work out? Not really.
