The undefeated Colts can clinch the AFC’s top playoff seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with one more win. But the opportunity to maintain their momentum down the stretch and atttain a perfect 16-0 season might not deter the Colts from resting key players, says Bill Polian.

Speaking on sports radio station 1070-The Fan, Indianapolis Colts President Bill Polian said the team has already moved to replace recently retired offensive coordinator Tom Moore and offensive line coach Howard Mudd, reports the Indianapolis Star.

After the two sides couldn’t agree on a restructured contract, WR Marvin Harrison asked the Colts to release him, a league source said Sunday night.

As much as the team would rather not — and Colts president Bill Polian acknowledged Sunday that it’s a tricky situation — Harrison is a luxury that Indianapolis can no longer afford.

Colts president Bill Polian has been around long enough that he actually drafted Lions general manager Martin Mayhew, once upon a time.

He was with the Bills at the time and took Mayhew in the 10th round of the 1988 draft. Mayhew, though, never played a down for Buffalo.
