It was a tough day for wide receivers, as Houston’s Andre Johnson, Minnesota’s Bernard Berrian and Indianapolis’ Reggie Wayne all sustained injuries. Johnson and Berrian didn’t return, although Wayne did.

Vikings WR Bernard Berrian strained his left hamstring during the second quarter against the Steelers, but his status wasn’t immediately known.

Vikings G Steve Hutchinson returned to practice today, albeit in limited fashion, and is listed as questionable to play Monday night against the Packers. Hutchinson is dealing with a back problem, but he hasn’t missed a game this season.

Here are a few of the things that caught my eye in the first half of Sunday’s games.

Brett Favre may be without his best deep threat when he makes his Vikings debut vs. the Cleveland Browns Sunday. Wide receiver Bernard Berrian is listed as questionable on the Vikings’ injury report with an injured hamstring.

When I look at Brett Favre on the Minnesota Vikings — ignoring all of the obvious things — what I see is the Vikings getting better in the red zone and on third downs. Really, Favre makes the entire offense better, and opposing defenses will no longer be able to take liberties against the Vikings.

Brett Favre’s presence will help the fantasy value of receivers Bernard Berrian, Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin and tight end Visanthe Shiancoe. Look at Favre as a viable No. 2 fantasy quarterback and worth a middle- to late-round selection.
