Baltimore free-agent linebacker Bart Scott is expected to sign with the New York Jets for about $8 million per year, and that could pave the way for Ray Lewis’ re-signing in Baltimore.
The Ravens have some of the most attractive potential free agents, with LBs Ray Lewis and Bart Scott along with C Jason Brown. But agent Harold Lewis, who represents Scott and Brown, told the Baltimore Sun that one of his clients will likely re-sign with the Ravens before free agency starts.
Over and over, the New York Jets and their new head coach, Rex Ryan, are linked to free-agent-to-be linebacker Ray Lewis. So when Ryan conducted a press conference Friday at the scouting combine in Indianapolis, needless to say one of the very first topics he was questioned about was what Lewis would add to the Jets’ defense.
As expected, the Ravens slapped their franchise tag on Terrell Suggs. Now, fellow LBs Ray Lewis and Bart Scott are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents, free to test the market.
If Ray Lewis is the free agent to watch this offseason, then Baltimore’s linebackers are the one unit to monitor.
Not only is Lewis a free agent, but so are Baltimore linebackers Terrell Suggs and Bart Scott.
As much as Baltimore wants to keep all three, it is going to be difficult to do.
