With major health concerns at safety, the Green Bay Packers signed free agent Matt Giordano. The surprising move is that they released a safety, 2007 third-round draft pick Aaron Rouse, to make room on the roster for Giordano.

Packers safety Atari Bigby has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Bengals because of a knee injury suffered in Week 1 and could miss up to a month, according to the team’s Web site. Third-year pro Aaron Rouse is expected to replace Bigby in the lineup.
