A few items on my mind this week after emerging from the film room, starting with the team that gets my vote as the NFL’s most improved.

The Lions will start Drew Stanton at quarterback vs. the Bears, and while the former Michigan State Spartan will not draw any interest in fantasy circles, he certainly could impact one of the best receivers, Calvin Johnson. Megatron continued to produce big numbers with QB Shaun Hill, but can you really trust him to do the same with Stanton?

For the first time, Cortland Finnegan addressed the fracas with Andre Johnson and the $25,000 fines for both players that followed.

Texans WR Andre Johnson will not be suspended following his brawl with Titans CB Cortland Finnegan, sources told NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora. Good news for those counting on Johnson for the final weeks of the fantasy football regular season.

Everybody loves a good brawl on the field, including the charities that will be the beneficiaries of those hefty fines that will be doled out. Well everybody other than those who have Texans WR Andre Johnson on their team.

Tempers boiled over midway through the fourth quarter, and Texans WR Andre Johnson and Titans CB Cortland Finnegan were ejected.

Poor Chargers QB Philip Rivers, four touchdowns and nobody is going to bother to notice. At least not after Eagles QB Michael Vick set the bar so high. At least he’s in the mix for Hall of Fame QB Dan Marino‘s single-season passing record.

There are a number of lessons that you can take from this Jets and Texans matchup.

The value of Texans WR Andre Johnson has taken a hit this week because of matchup against Jets CB Darrelle Revis. Dre’s value will plummet like the elevator car on Disney’s Hollywood Tower of Terror if the Texans have to turn to QBs Dan Orlovsky or Matt Leinart who has been listed as the team’s emergency quarterback for most of the season.

Texans QB Matt Schaub, you have avoided the list. At least for now.
