There were 12 NFL teams represented at Duquesne’s pro day on March 3, which was indoors on a hard-surface track where five Duquesne players and 10 others players from area small colleges worked out in shorts. Dorian Bell, OLB (5-foot-11, 228 pounds) — Bell ran the 40-yard dash in 4.73 and 4.66 seconds. Duquesne didn’t have a place for prospects to do the shuttle runs or three-cone drill, so Bell will drive to Ohio State on Friday to perform those drills.
Scouts from five NFL teams, as well as a coach from one — Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers coach Bob Bicknell — watched 18 players work out at Ole Miss’ pro day Monday. The workouts took place indoors and on field turf. Donte Moncrief, who participated at the NFL Scouting combine, was among the 18 players who worked out, but three others looked like they were good enough to bring to camp as free agents. Donte Moncrief, WR: Moncrief was weighed and measured (6-foot-2 3/8, 219 pounds) and did position drills only. Scouts said that he looked very, very impressive. Jeff Scott, RB: Scott measured in at 5-6, 165 pounds, and posted times of 4.49 and 4.47 in the 40-yard dash. […]

Fast-rising 2014 NFL Draft prospect Aaron Donald (6-foot-1, 287 pounds) stood on his impressive numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine, where he ran a 4.68-second 40-yard dash, had 35 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, registered a 32-inch vertical jump and 116-inch broad jump, and drew rave reviews for his performance. Washington tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins won’t participate in Washington’s April 2 pro day workout due to pending surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot, according to FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt. Doctors at the NFL Scouting Combine discovered Seferian-Jenkins’ injury in Indianapolis last week, causing the former Huskies star to join a number of top tight ends who were unable to perform at their best at the event. Teddy Bridgewater might have breezed through the NFL Scouting Combine doing little more than interviewing with clubs and skipping more drills than he participated in, but that has only set up a more demanding pro day workout for him. Bridgewater is vying to be the No. 1 overall pick of the Houston Texans, and former Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage told College Football 24/7 that NFL clubs will be expecting him to make up for all his missed action when Louisville holds its pro day March 17. Between the NFL Scouting Combine and the 2014 NFL Draft, NFL coaches and scouts — not to mention the prospects themselves — turn their attention to the various college pro day workouts. These are not as all-encompassing as the combine, but they are important enough for the key decision-makers in the league to travel around the country for more than a month to watch the talent up close and in person.
Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will throw at the pro day held at Northwestern on March 4, Gil Brandt said. Garoppolo emerged some FCS-level competition to become one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2014 NFL Draft and a possible mid-round pick. Follow College Football 24/7 on Twitter @NFL_CFB.
