In today’s Three and Out: Jay Gruden won’t corral RGIII while the Giants want to take the leash off the offense; and are the Jaguars not counting on Justin Blackmon for 2014?

In today’s Three and Out: Could Mark Sanchez find another starting job? Is it time to think twice about Danny Amendola?

New Vikings coach Mike Zimmer will have a tall task ahead of him in order to boost the overall fantasy appeal of the Minnesota Vikings.

Matthew Stafford’s presence in Detroit could bode well for Jim Caldwell. But will it work the other way around?

Now that Lovie Smith has taken over as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach, all signs point to Jeff Tedford taking the reigns as the team’s offensive coordinator. This will be Tedford’s his first job in the National Football League, but his name carries some weight with NFL front offices. Or at least it did at one time. During a lengthy college coaching tenure that included stops as the OC at Fresno State and Oregon as well as the head coach at California, he was known as a man who could develop quarterbacks. In fact, he has mentored six QBs who were taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. It’s a rather impressive feat, even if the names […]

» The likelihood of Peyton Manning throwing 55 touchdowns next season is pretty small. Any chance we could be talking about Drew Brees as the top fantasy QB drafted in 2014? Either way, you’re still staying away from any Saints WRs. » Plenty of people will look at LeSean McCoy or Jamaal Charles as the top pick, which is understandable. But someone will likely get Matt Forte with the third or fourth pick in their draft and could come up on the potential 2014 fantasy MVP. » It’s not always easy to tell which of Colin Kaepernick‘s pass-catchers will see the bulk of the targets, but one thing is for certain. With Michael Crabtree back, Kaepernick looks more like the QB that many took a chance on as […]

A lot of things have been said and written about Geno Smith this season. Let me add two more that probably haven’t been used much — if at all. Fantasy stud. That was the case on Sunday when the Jets rookie quarterback threw for 214 yards with two passing touchdowns while rushing for another 48 yards and a score in New York’s win over the Cleveland Browns. In total, it adds up to 27.36 points — more than Cam Newton, Drew Brees and Adrian Peterson. Combined. It was also a season high for the former West Virginia star in an up-and-down season that has now seen him score better than 20 points twice in the past three weeks. All of that is wonderful news, […]

Yes, Peyton Manning entered the Sunday night game as the leading fantasy scorer of Week 16. But this award is just as much about his 2013 season overall. Sunday, Manning threw for 400 yards and four touchdowns in a win over the Houston Texans. More importantly, that fourth touchdown gave Manning 51 touchdown tosses for the season — breaking the record set by Tom Brady in 2007. It’s a fitting honor for a season that began with Peyton tying a long-standing NFL record when he threw seven TD passes in a season-opening romp of the Baltimore Ravens. It’s not a complete surprise for a guy who is a lock for the Hall of Fame. And who knows? With Manning chasing the single-season record […]

» In a matchup of top rookie running backs, both Eddie Lacy and Le’Veon Bell have acquitted themselves well. The difference is that Lacy has found the end zone twice. But both have bright futures. » Ryan Mathews needs to be considered a low-end RB2 heading into next fantasy season. He’s run hard all season, stayed healthy and curbed his fumbling problems. He’s the back everyone thought he’d be coming out of college. » Calvin Johnson was banged-up coming into today’s ballgame and his production seems to have suffered accordingly. Of course, it doesn’t help that Matthew Stafford has struggled today. » The Belitricks are strong today. All four Patriots running backs have at least one attempt so far today. » It looks like early season Carson Palmer […]

In today’s Three and Out: Cecil Shorts is finished, while Joe Flacco and Willis McGahee should be back on the field.

» Rashad Jennings will be a name to remember next fall when it comes to draft time. He had another nice day with 91 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He’s also made Darren McFadden expendable in Oakland. » More on Jamaal Charles. He posted all of his 51.50 fantasy points on just 16 touches — eight rushes, eight receptions. » It was a DeAngelo Williams day for the Panthers. Don’t you just get the feeling that he could have been that type of back more consistently if the Panthers had just committed to him all along? » As much as Jamaal Charles is killing people’s playoff hopes, so is Drew Brees. But for completely different reasons. » After a slow start, Matt Flynn is starting to […]

In today’s Three and Out: Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin are looking uncertain for Week 15 while Jacob Tamme could be a sleeper play for Rob Gronkowski owners.

» The list of players who are producing long after everyone has given up on them can now add Hakeem Nicks. The mostly-disappointing wideout had 135 receiving yards in the loss today. No other Giant had more than 42 (the equally-disappointing Victor Cruz). » No matter the matchup, it’s hard to count out Frank Gore. He didn’t score a touchdown, but the veteran finished with 110 yards — including a big 51-yard run late in the ballgame. » Speaking of players having nice late-season totals, Justin Hunter had another big day. He’s a name to keep an eye on as you start thinking about next season. Although a Week 16 matchup against the Jags could make him an interesting prospect — if you’re fortunate enough […]
