There is special place in sports hell where real-life and fantasy disappointment run concurrently. Please allow me to share one of these stories.

Many fantasy enthusiasts likely feel a lot like Felix Baumgartner this morning after some players (and let’s put this mildly) didn’t come through on Sunday. Though, some old standbys finally showed themselves. Let’s get into it.

John Cena‘s mantra is hustle, loyalty and respect. Well, at least two out of three isn’t bad.

Cam Newton is an undroppable in most fantasy leagues, and it’s probably a good thing, too, considering most impetuous fantasy enthusiasts would at least consider dropping him after another disappointing game in Week 5. Like you’re sitting around, drinking a few beers, watching Dexter after the Sunday night game and thinking, “(expletive) it, I’m done with this guy.”

The NFC North is a two-team race, just as we all figured. What we didn’t figure was it would be the Chicago Bears (well, we kinda figured them) and the Minnesota Vikings (nobody saw it coming). The Bears and Vikings won in a pair of laughers, but the Packers?

This was the kind of week where why wouldn’t Chris Johnson have his best game of the season against the Houston Texans. And congratulations to the 65 percent of you who still started Johnson this week, kudos to you.

Well, this motivation poster clearly isn’t doing its job in New Orleans. You almost expect a new poster this week, maybe Sean Payton hanging from a branch with the inscription, “Hang in there, baby!”

The term “Monday Nightmare” might take a different connotation after the controversial ending to the “Monday Night Football” game. But let’s deal with the fantasy impact of what happened on Monday night.

When you talk about the unexpected for Week 3, the conversation might start and end with the Minnesota Vikings upset win over the San Francisco 49ers. Or was it the Saints falling to 0-3? Well one thing is expected … Adam Rank is here to cover it all.

Welcome to the Monday Nightmare. When I stated this feature three years ago, it was to provide an outlet for those whose fantasy weeks were ruined on Monday. The impetus being, I lead the world in being worked over on Monday night. Seriously, I’m considering a fantasy league which will outlaw Monday nights.
