Representatives from six NFL teams were present at Gallaudet’s first pro day on April 9, when two players worked out outdoors on grass.
One player in particular could be a free-agent pickup following the conclusion of the 2014 NFL Draft.
Adham Talaat, DL (6-foot-6, 271 pounds) — Talaat ran the 40-yard dash in 5.00 and 4.96 seconds. He had a 30-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-11 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.39 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.26 seconds. Talaat, who has 33 5/8-inch arms, performed 23 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press. Talaat had been sick, so his weight was down (normally, his weight would have been around 275-280 pounds).
In 2013, Talaat was a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy (presented to the top player in Division III college football) and the inaugural Cliff Harris Award (presented to the top defensive player in Division II, III or NAIA college football).
No player from Gallaudet — a school for deaf and hard of hearing students — has ever been drafted or played in the NFL.
