Trio of NFL hopefuls works out at Youngstown State’s pro day

Representatives from eight NFL teams — including assistant coaches from the San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers — were present for Youngstown State’s pro day on March 19.

The workout was held indoors on FieldTurf, and there were three prospects who could be free-agent pickups following the 2014 NFL Draft.

Chris Elkins, G (6-foot-2 1/4, 298 pounds) — Elkins ran the 40-yard dash in 4.97 and 4.99 seconds. He had a 29-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-9 broad jump. He had a 4.76-second short shuttle time and a 7.33-second three-cone time. He has 30 3/8-inch arms, which are on the short side.

Kyle Bryant, OT (6-5 3/4, 317) — Bryant ran the 40 in 5.81 and 5.88 seconds. He had a 24 1/2-inch vertical and 7-9 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 5.28 seconds and the three-cone in 8.26 seconds. Bryant, who has 33 7/8-inch arms, did 16 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press.

Nick Liste, P (5-9 1/2, 174) — Liste ran the 40 in 4.82 and 4.88 seconds. He had a 31-inch vertical and 9-4 broad jump. He ran the short shuttle in 4.64 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.19 seconds. They said Liste had a good hang time on punts during the positional drill.

A Cleveland Browns assistant also visited the school a day after the pro day to work out players.
