Bengals defensive backs coach Mark Carrier attended Kansas State’s pro day March 11, when 10 teams were present to watch 23 players work out: 20 from Kansas State and three from smaller schools in the area.
Carrier was here to see Ty Zimmerman, a defensive back who was not at the combine. Zimmerman is recovering from right labrum surgery and will work out April 28 at Kansas State.
Marcus Heit, LS: Heit (6-foot-3, 252 pounds) ran 4.92 and 4.94 in the 40. He posted a 31-inch vertical and a 9-8 broad jump. His arms measured 31 1/4 inches, and he had 11 reps in the bench press. He didn’t do the shuttle and three-cone drill. Everyone nowadays, it seems, is looking for a deep snapper, and Heit is a very good one — he can snap the ball fast, and he can put it on your left hip or your right hip, or wherever you want it. He’s probably a priority free agent.
Luke Lucas, OT: Lucas had a boot on his injured left foot, and like Zimmerman, he will work out April 28 at Kansas State.
