Tennessee-Martin’s Jeremy Butler a free-agent possibility

Representatives from eight NFL teams were present for Tennessee-Martin’s pro day Tuesday, when 10 players worked out, including one potential free-agent prospect.

The workout was conducted outdoors and run on FieldTurf.

Jeremy Butler, WR (6-foot-1 3/4, 224 pounds) — Butler ran the 40-yard dash in 4.61 seconds with the wind and 4.63 seconds against the wind. He had a 36-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-6 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.22 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.19 seconds. He performed 15 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

Butler caught the ball well in the position drills. He is a possesssion receiver; he doesn’t have enough speed to be anything but a possession-type receiver at the next level. Butler is a possible rookie free-agent pickup following the 2014 NFL Draft.
