Two Red Wolves could get NFL tryouts following draft

A total of 14 Arkansas State players worked out indoors on FieldTurf in front of representatives from nine NFL teams on March 7.

Ryan Carrethers, DT (6-foot-1 3/4, 333 pounds) — Carrethers ran the 40-yard dash in 5.34 and 5.35 seconds, the three-cone drill in 7.89 seconds and did 34 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. He kept his verical jump and broad jump numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. Carrethers is a likely free-agent pickup following the 2014 NFL Draft.

Adam Kennedy, QB (6-4 1/2, 223) — Kennedy ran the 40 in 5.10 and 5.13 seconds. He had a 26 1/2-inch vertical and 9-7 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.69 seconds and did the three-cone drill in 7.48 seconds. Kennedy — who transferred to Arkansas State following two seasons at Utah State — threw for 2,363 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2013 for the Red Wolves. Kennedy will probably be brought into an NFL camp for a tryout following the draft, and a team will make an early decision on whether or not to keep him around for training camp.

Allen Muse, WR (6-4 1/8, 186) — Muse ran the 40 in 4.76 and 4.78 seconds. He had a 40 1/2-inch vertical and 10-9 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.64 seconds and the three-cone in 7.30 seconds. He also had 16 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Muse falls in the same category as Kennedy, as in he’ll likely get a look from an NFL team during rookie camps following the NFL draft.
