Walt Aikens puts forth strong showing at Liberty’s pro day

Representatives from 14 NFL teams — including the defensive backs coach from the Philadelphia Eagles — gathered at Liberty’s pro day to see 11 players work out. The timing was held indoors and took place on a track, which is a faster running surface than FieldTurf. The on-field workouts, however, were held outdoors since the school’s facility wasn’t big enough for field drills and it was very cold.

The notable prospect to participate in the pro day was Walt Aikens, a cornerback who was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.

Aikens (6-foot-0 5/8, 203 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 and 4.46 seconds. He did a 35-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-10 broad jump. He had a 4.28-second short shuttle and a 7.09-second three-cone drill. Aikens was able to impress in the field workout despite the conditions.
