Graham, Pitta, Maclin all staying put

Graham given franchise tag: It won’t come as a surprise to anyone, but Jimmy Graham isn’t going anywhere. The star tight end was given the franchise tag by the Saints, meaning he’s guaranteed to be in New Orleans for the 2014 season. Saying Graham was the top player at his position last season doesn’t do him justice. Based on his point totals, the dynamic pass-catcher would have been the fourth-highest scoring wide receiver and the sixth-best running back. As long as he’s upright and catching passes from Drew Brees, Graham will be a late-first round or early-second round pick in nearly all fantasy re-drafts.

Maclin signs one-year deal: Wideout Jeremy Maclin will once again be plying his trade as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. The veteran agreed to a one-year pact with the team and will try to rebound after missing all of 2013 with an ACL injury. Maclin joins a productive, but crowded offensive unit. He’ll battle for targets with DeSean Jackson and Riley Cooper. All the while, LeSean McCoy is likely to remain the centerpiece of Chip Kelly’s high-powered offense. Maclin is likely to slot as a WR3 in most fantasy leagues next season.

Pitta, Ravens agree to deal: Graham wasn’t the only tight end to make the news Friday. Dennis Pitta and the Baltimore Ravens agreed to a new five-year contract. The tight end missed most of the 2013 campaign due to injury, but was an immediate impact player upon his return. Now in new offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak’s scheme, Pitta figures to see plenty of opportunity. He’ll be one of the first tight ends off the board in most drafts.
