Key RBs ailing ahead of Wild Card playoff round

– Eddie Lacy is dealing with ankle issues and is listed as probable for the Wild Card round game against the Niners. For those of you playing the Playoff Challenvge, Lacy is an intriguing selection, as Green Bay will likely need to run the ball well in freezing weather in order to advance and give you a shot at scoring more points with him. It may be so cold in Green Bay that you’ll need to wear a winter coat just watching the game on TV. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

– Pierre Thomas is dealing with a chest injury and has been ruled out for Saturday’s Wild Card game against the Eagles. The Eagles play on Saturday night and may have caught a break with the weather — icy rain is expected on Sunday. Nonetheless, even if the weather is clear and freezing, the Saints will need to be able to run the ball effectively if they want to advance. Losing Thomas won’t help that cause.

– Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin — remember him? — stressed that he’s ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn ACL and he plans on being ready for spring practices in April. The Eagles struggled on offense for stretches of 2013, and his presence surely would have helped. But he’s a free agent to be. Will he remain in Philly? His career stats are strong enough to warrant a look from more than a few WR-hungry GMs. Stay tuned.
