Week 16 KABOOM! No surprise it’s Peyton

Yes, Peyton Manning entered the Sunday night game as the leading fantasy scorer of Week 16. But this award is just as much about his 2013 season overall.

Sunday, Manning threw for 400 yards and four touchdowns in a win over the Houston Texans. More importantly, that fourth touchdown gave Manning 51 touchdown tosses for the season — breaking the record set by Tom Brady in 2007. It’s a fitting honor for a season that began with Peyton tying a long-standing NFL record when he threw seven TD passes in a season-opening romp of the Baltimore Ravens.

It’s not a complete surprise for a guy who is a lock for the Hall of Fame. And who knows? With Manning chasing the single-season record for passing yardage, there’s a chance we could recognize him in this space again next week.
