We waited to see if Josh Gordon’s epic performance in a losing effort against the Pittsburgh Steelers would be topped in the afternoon games. It wasn’t.
Gordon had a spectacular day for an unspectacular team as he set a franchise record with 237 receiving yards and tied a franchise record with 14 receptions (Hall of Famer Ozzie Newsome holds the record with Gordon). Gordon also added a one-yard touchdown, giving fantasy owners a stellar 29.70 fantasy points, currently tops in all of fantasy for Week 12.
Since coming back from his two-game suspension to start the season, Gordon has been electric on the field and in fantasy land. He was just outside the top 15 heading into Sunday’s action, and will likely be in contention for a top-10 finish by the time the season is over. It is worth noting that he has done all of this with a cavalcade of quarterbacks throwing him the football. Brian Hoyer, Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell have all had significant time under center for the Browns, leaving us to wonder just how spectacular Gordon could be if he had even an average quarterback throwing him the football on Sundays. And if he had someone like Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees tossing him the rock? Well kids, those are what fantasy dreams are made of.
