The season is over for Buccaneers running back Doug Martin after being placed on injured reserve because of a lingering shoulder injury. It’s a drastic change from earlier in the week when Martin said that “everything is looking good” with the torn labrum he suffered in Week 7.
It caps a frustrating season for a runner who was a first-round pick in most fantasy leagues. He averaged a pedestrian 11.87 points in his first three games then saw that number dip to 6.87 over his next three contests. Since his injury, Mike James has stepped in and run the ball well, highlighted by his eye-opening 20.68-point performance at Seattle in Week 9. Now that Martin is out for the remainder of the season, there’s no reason fantasy owners shouldn’t let him go and snag his replacement (if he’s still available) — especially for this week’s game against the porous Dolphins run defense.
