Start Dolphins opponents regularly

Fins defense still struggling: How fortunate are the Dolphins to have a 3-2 record heading into their bye? Extremely. Their record belies what is really happening on the gridiron. Believe it or not, Miami has been outgained in yardage in all five games this season, and that isn’t the best recipe for long-term success. It has caught up with them the last two weeks — first, Drew Brees shredded their secondary last Monday night, then Baltimore, which had struggled to run the ball often this season, outgained Miami 133-22 in Week 5. Miami’s offensive line was manhandled badly in the second half against the Ravens, as Ryan Tannehill seemed to face pressure on every snap. What’s the point of all […]

Week 5 fantasy feedback

» For all of the attention focused on Peyton Manning, let’s not overlook Knowshon Moreno who rushed for 93 yards and a TD while adding another 57 receiving yards. He’s taking control of the No. 1 spot in the Broncos backfield. » He might frustrate Dallas Cowboys fans, but a game like today shows why Tony Romo remains a quality fantasy option. » Chris Johnson scored a long touchdown, but there was little that he did today to excite fantasy owners. He might be a bench option next week with the Titans travelling to Seattle. » Nick Foles played well today, but don’t get too excited. That was against the Giants. If he starts next week, it will be against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. » […]

Social (Fantasy) Network: Postseason plans

In this week’s Social (Fantasy) Network, we want to know if your team is on a playoff path.

Browns QB Brian Hoyer has torn ACL

In today’s Three and Out: A pair of quarterbacks go down in Thursday Night Football and Stevan Ridley isn’t looking good for Week 5.

Freeman now a free man

Buccaneers release QB Josh Freeman: We’ve officially entered the Mike Glennon show. The Bucs tried to trade Josh Freeman, but no one was interested, so they let him go. He’ll probably catch on with another team eventually, but his fall from grace hasn’t been very enjoyable to watch. Glennon has no fantasy value until he figures out how to run this offense efficiently. Doug Martin is also going to struggle as the Bucs try to develop a passing game. If you somehow owned or started Freeman on your team, you have some QB shopping to do. Stat. Spiller a game-time decision: Those of you who own C.J. Spiller are in a bit of a bind. He’s a game-time decision against […]

Burleson still aiming big

Burleson has lofty post-injury goals: Can Nate Burleson reach 1,000 receiving yards this season despite missing time after a pizza-related car accident that even he is laughing about now? He certainly thinks so. Burleson averaged about 80 receiving yards per game in the first three weeks of the season, which would have put him on pace to go well over 1,000 over the course of a 16-game season. But the recent accident will become a bigger obstacle the longer it lingers. The good news, though? With a number of inter-divisional games left, the Vikings, Packers and Bears all rank in the bottom 10 at defending the pass this season. Yes, it’s early. But the opportunities will be there. Get back […]

Santonio Holmes expected to miss a few weeks

In today’s Three and Out: Santonio Holmes thins out an already thin jets WR corps while Willis McGahee might be more like Trent Richardson than he gives himself credit for being.

Monday Nightmare: Almost Jimmy, almost

Allow me to pull back the curtain a little bit. When we do projections for the Monday show, if I need a guy to get me a certain number of points that night, I will project that. This, of course, explains why I had Jimmy Graham tabbed for 26.80 points against the Dolphins on Monday night. And to be honest, that number wasn’t so outlandish. It puts him in the Tony Gonzalez category for Week 4 and it was close to what Graham did on Monday.
