Davis going deep: Allow me this obvious statement, but the 49ers are going to need somebody to step up with Michael Crabtree out. And Vernon Davis is the guy I like to step up. Davis impressed spectators at practice recently when he went long on a 50-yard touchdown bomb. Could this be a look at things to come? Davis has lined up all over the field for the 49ers, but it will be his ability to exploit mismatches and stretch the field which could provide dividends. Davis also looks a lot leaner in camp, too. In fact, some reports say he looks more like a receiver than tight end. No matter where Davis lines up, he’s still listed at a TE on NFL.com and that’s good news for all of us. I currently have him as the No. 3 tight end, but he could be a greater value than Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski. Davis’ ADP is currently in the sixth-round. I suggest holding out for Davis, while you let somebody else overspend for the first two guys.

Bears doing some reading: The Bears have been seen doing some read-option in training camp so far. And it might be a hint at things to come. Our Bucky Brooks has said the Bears certainly have the tools to run the offense, as Jay Cutler is more athletic than people think. But this could be great for running back Matt Forte. I’ve long liked Forte for Marc Trestman‘s offense before news of the read-option started to spread, and now I’m even more excited. Forte is going to have a big year for the Bears. Anybody who snaps him up at a RB2 is going to be very happy with this pick. And if you’re in a PPR league? Forte becomes a must-have running back.

Hilton all over the field: The Colts have lined up T.Y. Hilton at both receiver spots in practice thus far, but he’s still behind Reggie Wayne and Darrius Heyward-Bey on the team’s depth chart. Hilton has received high praise from the Colts’ coaching staff, which will look for ways to get him on field. But right now, he’s nothing more than a sleeper in most fantasy formats. Same with DHB, too.

Did you know that Adam Rank won last year’s Expert’s League title? Oh that’s right, it’s like the only thing he ever talks about. Well congratulations, Rank. You finally did something. What have you done for us lately? Let’s worry about 2013 and stop living in the past. Typical Lakers fan, am I right? Oh, if you found this useful (as if) check him out on the latest “Dave Dameshek Football Program“. And follow him on Twitter, please. He’s taking us to lunch if he gets 17 more Twitter followers today. And we only got 15 the last time, so step up fantasy enthusiasts!
