This isn’t the way Percy Harvin wanted to start his tenure with the Seahawks.
The dynamic receiver has been placed on the physically unable to perform list with a possible slight tear in the labrum in his hip. He’ll have a second opinion next week, but you can be sure that Pete Carroll and the rest of the Seahawks coaching staff is keeping an eye on this.
In a best-case scenario, this is a minor situation and Harvin won’t miss much time. Worst-case scenario is that he needs surgery and it ends up being awhile before he sees the field. With Harvin in the fold, the Seahawks have arguably the most complete offense in the NFC West with the former Florida star as a bona fide fantasy stud. Without him, there will certainly be some shuffling among the Seahawks pass-catchers — as well as the fantasy WR rankings.
Regardless of the outcome, this doesn’t do much to refute the notion of Harvin as an injury-prone player. Only once in his first four seasons has he played a full 16 games and last season he sat out the final seven games of the season. This incident might only serve to remind fantasy owners of the biggest red flags surrounding an otherwise electric player. Stay tuned for more news to come.
