Matt Barkley displays arm strength similar to Andy Dalton

The highly anticipated on-campus workout of USC quarterback Matt Barkley finally took place on Wednesday.

Barkley stood on his height measurement from the NFL Scouting Combine (6-foot-2) and weighed 231 pounds at USC’s pro day. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.89 and 4.92 seconds, and had a short shuttle time of 4.55 seconds.

In the quarterback drills, Barkley threw all of his passes into the wind. I’m told that Barkley displayed an arm strength similar to that of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton, and that he also did a good job throwing the seam route. It was a workout better than some had expected.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were well-represented today in Los Angeles, with general manager David Caldwell, coach Gus Bradley and team owner Shad Khan‘s son, Tony Khan (the team’s senior vice president of football technology and analytics), in attendance.

Also in attendance were Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery, Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie and St. Louis Rams general manager Les Snead.
