Nevada’s Zach Sudfeld emerges as potential NFL prospect

Representatives from 30 NFL teams gathered at the pro day held at Nevada, where 14 players went through a workout held outdoors on FieldTurf.

Chris Barker, G (6-foot-2, 303 pounds) — Barker ran the 40-yard dash in 5.14 and 5.13 seconds. He had a 4.67-second short shuttle, 7.86-second three-cone drill and an 8-foot-3 broad jump. Barker was worked out by one of the scouts in attendance, Adam Engroff, who is one of the best at working out linemen.

Stephon Jefferson, RB (5-10 1/2, 208) — Jefferson ran the 40 in 4.62 and 4.60 seconds, had a 32 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 4.38-second short shuttle run. He caught be the ball really well in the position drills.

Duke Williams, FS (5-10 7/8, 201) — Williams ran the three-cone drill in 7.19 seconds, and then stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine.

Khalid Wooten, CB (5-11 1/2, 206) — Wooten ran the 40 in 4.47 and 4.49 seconds, and had a 4.25-second short shuttle time. He also looked good in the positional drills.

Zach Sudfeld, TE (6-6 3/4, 253) — Sudfeld ran the 40 in 4.77 and 4.71 seconds. He had a 9-foot-5 broad jump, a 4.48-second short shuttle and a 7.00-second three-cone drill time. He also performed 11 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press. Sudfeld had a really impressive workout. What he needs to work on is his strength. Sudfeld has the potential to compete for an NFL roster spot, but between now and training camp he has to get stronger.
