Twenty-five teams were represented at Florida International on March 8, including the Miami Dolphins defensive back coach, to watch 19 FIU and 11 small-school players perform drills outdoors on a grass field.
John Cyprien, FS (6-1; 208 pounds) — Cyprien elected not to do the vertical “for personal reasons” but went on to leap 9-feet-11 in the broad jump. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.65 and 4.64 seconds. His time was 4.44 seconds in the short shuttle and 7.01 seconds for the three-cone drill. He did 18 reps at 225 pounds.
Tourek Williams, DL (6-3 1/8; 253 pounds) – Williams had already worked out at NFL Scouting Combine. At FIU’s pro day he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.71 and 4.76 seconds. He performed a 4.46-second short shuttle and a 7.44-second three-cone drill. He declined to do the vertical jump or broad jump.
While he did pro day drills as a defensive end and linebacker, “the feeling was he’s a better defensive end in the NFL,” NFL.com’s Gil Brandt said.
