Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Terron Armstead remains impressive

Terron Armstead‘s impressive run-up to the 2013 NFL Draft continued Monday at Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s pro day.

New San Diego Chargers offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris put Armstead through a workout that went on for about an hour. Armstead — who was among the top performers at his position in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump and broad jump at the NFL Scouting Combine — only participated in the position drills at the pro day. Armstead looked outstanding in the workouts, and now has some private workouts scheduled, including one with the Dallas Cowboys. Armstead has a very good chance of being one of the top 60 players selected in the draft.

Representatives from 12 teams were at Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s pro day March 4.

Brandon Thurmond, LB (6-foot-1 1/8, 253 pounds) — Thurmond ran the 40 in 4.82 and 4.74 seconds, had a 32-inch vertical jump and 8-foot-11 broad jump, did the three-cone drill in 7.28 seconds and the short shuttle in 4.50 seconds. Thurmond also had 20 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press. Thurmond is a potential rookie free-agent pickup.

In all, 14 athletes worked out at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The 40s were run at a high school field that had a FieldTurf surface.
