NFL fantasy football: Fred Jackson expected back

Jackson to finish concussion tests: Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey expects running back Fred Jackson to return for Wednesday’s practice after completing the league-mandated concussion protocols. Jackson missed last week’s win over the Miami Dolphins after suffering a head injury in Week 11 against the Patriots. Jackson’s return would mean a reduction in touches for C.J. Spiller, who performed so well in Week 12. Such is the life of owning a Bills running back in fantasy. Jackson has been far less productive this season, but the team has made every effort to split touches equally between the pair. Don’t expect that to change this week against a lax Colts rushing defense.
Brown could start for Eagles: With LeSean McCoy recovering from a concussion, the Philadelphia Eagles could turn to rookie running back Bryce Brown as their starter for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers. Brown hasn’t had many opportunities this season, but has done relatively well with a small sample size, carrying the ball 32 times for 141 yards (4.4 YPC). Of course, that means nothing if Philly doesn’t alter its offensive game plan. Fantasy owners have consistently complained that McCoy wasn’t getting enough touches. If the Andy Reid won’t feed his best offensive playmaker, why would he put a big workload on an untested rookie?
Hillman to get “first call” for Broncos: Willis McGahee is likely finished for the rest of the regular season, putting Ronnie Hillman at the top of the Denver Broncos running back depth chart. The rookie has been Denver’s most effective back behind McGahee, but his ability to stay on the field will be how he handles pass protection. If Hillman can stand up to blitzing linebackers, he’ll likely see the bulk of the carries. If he can’t, the job could fall to Lance Ball.
