Fantasy football: Reggie Bush primed for TNF

Admit it: With a Thursday Night Football matchup against the Buffalo Bills tonight, Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush will have extra motivation. Though he initially said all the right things after his benching last week, the USC product admitted he wasn’t so comfortable with what happened. “I’m not gonna sit here and say it doesn’t bother me,” Bush said, via ProFooballTalk.com. “It does bother me.” As if being fired up for tonight’s game wasn’t enough, he gets to square off against a Bills defense which is worst in the league against the run. The unit is allowing an average of 163 yards per game and a league-worst 16 rushing scores. Though a national audience should have the Bills putting up their best effort, it could be the perfect fantasy storm for Bush owners.

Think twice: New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles returned to practice on Wednesday, but teammate Chris Ivory still believes he deserves to lead the charge. As “Around The League” writer Kevin Patra noted, “The Saints nearly doubled their rushing average the past two weeks without Sproles (72.6 yards per game through seven games, 144 yards per game the last two). Much of that has been credited to the vicious running style of Chris Ivory.” While Ivory has now posted two consecutive games with a score, fantasy owners should still use caution. The last time the Tiffin University product posted three-straight scoring games was his rookie season in 2010. With Sproles getting healthier and the continued contributions of Mark Ingram and Pierre Thomas, there are simply too many mouths to feed. That said, the Oakland Raiders have been abysmal defensively their last two games, allowing 97 total points. He’s a good choice for owners hit by the bye week, but he does come with some risk given his history and committee situation.

Back to normal: It’s as if 2011 never happened. Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has returned to elite ways, both on the field and in fantasy land. The veteran leads all NFL players in balloting for the 2013 Pro Bowl, NFL.com announced Wednesday. 2013 Pro Bowl voting will continue online and on web-enabled mobile phones by going to NFL.com/probowl through Monday, Dec. 17. You can also just bang it here to submit your picks. Manning has been one of the best values for fantasy owners who took a risk and drafted him this season. Currently sixth among all fantasy quarterbacks with 179.60 points, Manning will get to face off against a Chargers secondary which has allowed 16 touchdowns compared to just eight interceptions. Start him with confidence against a team searching for answers on both sides of the ball.
