Madden curse watch week 10: Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings

Historically, players who are featured on the cover of the “Madden NFL” franchise experience significant drops in their offensive production. NFL.com is tracking the performance of Calvin Johnson and the Detroit Lions over the course of the 2012 season because we believe Johnson will debunk the Madden curse.

Calvin Johnson kicks off the Lions’ rally with this 50-yard pass.

A monster catch that only Megatron can make.

Brandon Pettigrew finishes off the drive with a 16-yard touchdown.

16-10, Vikings.

FOURTH QUARTER
————————————————————————————————————————————–

Minnesota extends their lead with Kyle Rudolph‘s 20-yard touchdown reception.  Christian Ponder‘s longest touchdown pass of the season.

A successful 2-point conversion, thanks to Adrian Peterson, makes it a two possession game.

The Lions have a lot of work to do. Megatron…Megatron…Megatron?

With 12 minutes left in the quarter, Calvin Johnson catches a 25-yard pass, 3-yards short of a touchdown.

A penalty puts the ball on the 1-yard line and Stafford easily puts the ball in the hands of Titus Young.

24-17, Vikings.

The Lions cut into the Vikings lead, but not for long. Adrian Peterson runs the ball 61-yards for a touchdown.

There is stil plenty of time left on the clock, but down by 14, the Lions need to score quickly. Stafford throws a 20-yard pass to Calvin Johnson, but the ball is stripped.

Johnson’s turnover leads to three points for the Vikings.

With two minutes left on the clock. Stafford finally finds Megatron for a touchdown. The first Stafford to Johnson touchdown of the season.

But there’s not enough time on the clock to bring back the game for the Lions. Final score, 34-24.

Genevieve Ross/Associated Press

Calvin Johnson finished the game with a career high 12 receptions for 207 yards and 1 touchdown.

Yeah. He’s all right.
