NFL fantasy football: Roethlisberger gets (stat) corrected

Stat corrections strike again!

What originally was scored as a 13-yard touchdown run for Rashard Mendenhall now has been credited as a 13-yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger to Mendenhall. While it doesn’t have an impact on the running back’s fantasy total from Week 5, it does give Big Ben a boost of 4.52 points in standard leagues. That could be a big deal as Roethlisberger started in 23 percent of leagues last week.

Since the change comes after most leagues already have had their waiver claims processed, be sure to check that you didn’t lose a player you were targeting because of an alteration in the waiver wire order. Then again, these sorts of things wouldn’t happen if everyone believed in the Social (Fantasy) Network.

UPDATE: It turned out to be a busy week in the stat correction department. The rest of the changes:

  • Frank Gore picks up two yards (and loses one carry) when a rush was changed to an aborted play.
  • Darius Reynaud reception was changed to a Nate Washington reception, giving Washington an additional catch and 17 more yards.
  • One Peyton Manning completion to Demaryius Thomas was reduced in length by eight yards, affecting both players.
  • An Aaron Rodgers pass to Alex Green has been changed to a rush. Rodgers loses eight yards passing while Green picks up eight yards rushing.
