Fantasy football can be such a callous business sometimes. We all say things about players we probably don’t mean (like those of you tweeting at DeAngelo Williams) and it seems so cold to just drop Cedric Benson after our Steve Wyche reported the Packers running back will miss at least eight weeks after Lisfranc surgery.
I would like to keep a roster spot for Benson should “License to Ill” go on to win the Corona Football League. But we need to free up some roster space and it’s going to be sad to see Benson go after such a glorious start.
There isn’t going to be much value in Packers backup running backs Alex Green and Jimmy Starks. It’s too bad the NFL trade deadline doesn’t mirror that of the other major sports like Major League Baseball because it would be cool to see the Jaguars deal away Maurice Jones-Drew to the Green Bay Packers (or Arizona Cardinals).
If you need some help after you drop Benson, check out Michael Fabiano‘s top waiver-wire targets. Fabs says if you need a running back, Jahvid Best might be your best option to pick up this week.
Here are some other notes that could be of interest to you.
- Were you wondering why Cam Newton didn’t just dive over the pile like he normally does in the final moments against the Seahawks? You weren’t alone.
- Hey, remember the joke about Wes Welker sticking it in Bill Belichick‘s face? He was just joking, people. It won’t be funny when Welker is getting phased out of the offense again.
- Redskins QB Robert Griffin III told our Michelle Beinser he was feeling pretty good on Monday. So we’ll keep you posted, but we anticipate Griffin playing this week.
- LeGarrette Blount is practicing better, according to the Tampa Bay Times, and he could end up taking carries away from Doug Martin, who has been a huge disappointment this season.
For the record, you can submit your fantasy questions to NFL Fantasy Live, Michael Fabiano or me on Twitter. But realize, NFL Fantasy Live has 70,000 followers, and Fabiano has 60,000. Me? Just 13. See, the odds are better I will answer your question, so hit me up both via Twitter or via Facebook (oh wait, I told you to stop going to Facebook). Go instead to Google+.
