Each week, we’ll take a look at how Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III stack up against the 2011 breakout performance of Cam Newton.
Andrew Luck vs. Cam Newton
Andrew Luck led his team to a 30-27 victory over the Green Bay Packers. After a slow offensive start in the first half, the Colts scored 19 straight points and capped off their comeback with a 4-yard Reggie Wayne touchdown to take the lead. The rookie QB also rushed for 24 yards and earned his first rushing touchdown of the season.
Three may be Luck’s number. This is his third consecutive two touchdown game and his third 300-plus passing yard game. The Colts are now at .500 with a 2-2 record. This time last year, Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers had one win.
Robert Griffin III vs. Cam Newton
RG3 suffered a mild concussion after taking a hit in the third quarter against the Atlanta Falcons. Since he did not complete the game, we will not compare Week 5 game stats with Newton.
Next week RG3 and the Washington Redskins host the Pittsburgh Steelers, while the Indianapolis Colts and Luck meet the New York Jets on the road.
