NFL Network and NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport is reporting Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Mike Wallace has told teammates he plans to report to the team this weekend and sign his tender. Though there has been no official statement and nothing is set in stone, his possible return would be a shot in the arm for a team currently relying only on Antonio Brown as their go-to guy. Wallace led the Steelers in receptions and receiving yards while finishing second on the team with eight touchdowns in 2011.
The Mississippi product finished ninth among all receivers in fantasy football last year, and currently carries an ADP of 37.95 in drafts. Expect Wallace’s value to rise now that he will reportedly return to the Steelers, but owners might want to temper expectations when selecting him. Among all wideouts, Wallace will be facing the second-toughest strength of schedule in 2012, and he will still have to get settled into Todd Haley’s new offense. Until the ink has dried and it’s official, continue to select Wallace as a No. 2 wideout in fantasy drafts.
