Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green didn’t get a call from Larry Fitzgerald this summer to work out. No worries — the standout sophomore just traded one Pro Bowl mentor for another.
“I had a chance to work out with Calvin (Johnson) this whole summer so it was great because the guy works so hard and he taught me a lot of things to get where he is,” Green told “NFL AM” on Tuesday morning.
Evidently, a former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets receiver has no qualms about tutoring a Georgia Bulldog on the finer points of dominating at the NFL level.
After catching 65 passes for 1,057 yards and 7 touchdowns in his rookie campaign, Green was ecstatic to be able to learn from one of the most diligent receivers in the league.
“The guy is second-to-none the way he works (and) the way he goes about his business,” Green said. “He’s a great guy to be around, he is humble and I just love being around guys like that who are in his position.”
Hopefully, Green will not only be able to emulate Johnson’s work ethic off the field, but he’ll come close to replicating Megatron’s production on it as well.
