NFL fantasy football: David Garrard injured

Is the bad news on David Garrard good for Reggie Bush’s value? (Ed Zurga/Associated Press)

NFL.com’s Jeff Darlington reports Miami Dolphins quarterback David Garrard will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery. There was no timetable specified for the surgery, the veteran simply stating it would happen “soon.”

Just when it looked like the East Carolina product would make a comeback, the injury bug strikes once again. Though he was not considered more than a late round pick in fantasy football drafts, the news could mean good things for Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas. Garrard expected to win the starting job after poor performances by Ryan Tannehill and Matt Moore during OTAs, so unless either quarterback begins to impress, the Dolphins could wind up leaning heavily on their backfield.

Bush is currently ranked 17th among all fantasy backs, but could see his value increase if he winds up carrying a heavy load.
