DeSean Jackson says MJD, Mike Wallace shouldn’t hold out

One truism in life is you shouldn’t knock something until you’ve tried it.

DeSean Jackson tried holding out, and now he’s knocking it.

The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver’s 12-day holdout in 2011 ended with little benefit, and he suggests others not go that route.

“Well, going through my little deal and things like that, I definitely found out there’s really not much you can do,” Jackson said Thursday on “NFL AM.” “There’s no control you really have over that. Trying to force a team to pay and things like that is definitely not something too smart.”

Jackson would know: He didn’t get paid, and his production last season seemed to slip to the point that even Eagles receivers coach David Culley said Jackson was distracted.

Jackson said holding out just doesn’t end up being worth it.

“I would say just go keep working hard and go out there and prove what kind of player you are,” he said. “With them guys, Mike Wallace and Maurice Jones-Drew, actually good friends of mine and hopefully something will happen soon enough and they can get back to playing football. But you know it’s a tricky, it’s a tricky situation. You can’t force anybody, any organization to pay you, so that’s the biggest thing about that.”

Jacksonville Jaguars CB Aaron Ross also addressed MJD’s holdout on “NFL AM,” saying the team hopes he gets to training camp as soon as possible.

“That is something they talk about in the front office,” Ross said. “But the guys in the locker room, we’re just trying to be the best and we’re wishing Jones-Drew, he can get here pretty soon.”
