Mike Pouncey knows how to say the right things to the media. No doubt about that.
Whether he was addressing Reggie Bush’s desire to lead the NFL in rushing or which of the three quarterbacks would start for the Miami Dolphins, Pouncey gave “NFL Total Access” host Andrew Siciliano the types of answers that would make his head coach happy.
“He’s came out and said he wants to be the NFL’s leading rusher,” Pouncey said of Bush’s comments earlier this offseason. “I think he has a chance to do that.”
Good job, good effort, Mike.
Pouncey’s confidence in his linemates, including Pro Bowl OT Jake Long, oozed when discussing how he believed they can duplicate Bush’s 2011 performance of 1,086 yards, including finishing the season with four games of at least 100 yards.
Moving on to the quarterback controversy in Dolphins camp, Pouncey praised all three quarterbacks.
Matt Moore: Won games last season and did a “heck of a job for us.”
David Garrard: Veteran who went to the Pro Bowl before he was hurt.
Ryan Tannehill: 24-year-old rookie who knows the offense. “He ran (the offense) in college, you can see him in practice, he is teaching the veteran guys some of the plays.”
“I just can’t wait to see these guys compete, go out there and see who is going to win the starting job,” said Pouncey.
Thanks to HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” we’ll all be able to watch with you, Mike.
