Hakeem Nicks’ value takes a hit, but not too big

Time to rearrange the fantasy rankings following word Hakeem Nicks broke a bone in his foot, which the team announced on Thursday. Nicks will undergo surgery on Friday and is expected to be out 12 weeks, which would push his return to sometime around training camp and the opening of the season.
That is if everything goes well.
Nicks is still a great talent and he’s going to be productive at some point this season, but he certainly isn’t going to stay as my No. 4 receiver. If you check out my rankings, I will move Nicks to No. 17, just behind Eric Decker. Consequently Victor Cruz benefits, as he moves up to No. 11.
Nicks could be a good value in terms of average draft position. Most fantasy enthusiasts will pass on Nicks, and if you can grab him as a WR2, you are looking at a guy who will greatly benefit you down the stretch. It’s certainly a risk. And his first month will likely be brutal as he works himself back into shape. But he will reward you with a solid second half.
For the record, you can submit your fantasy questions to NFL Fantasy Live, Michael Fabiano or me on Twitter. But realize, NFL Fantasy Live has 40,000 followers, and Fabiano has 50,000. Me? Just 13. See, the odds are better that I will answer your question, so hit me up both via Twitter or via Facebook. Also be sure to catch the latest “Dave Dameshek Football Program.”
