The Jets get a glimpse of Tebowmania… including a poor dog’s new name

Well, this didn’t take long. You knew the Jets would wrap their arms around Tebowmania. And you knew they were entering another world when Tim Tebow’s introductory news conference was treated like a gala. But I feel like it really crystalized today.
Media members who cover the Jets were allowed in the locker room today for the first time this offseason, and Tebow received most of the attention. Duh. And as you can see here, here, and here, it was an epic period of media access. Those Gang Green reporters are never boring. And Tebow contradicting a report about where he lived was fantastic.
But the best and most absurd thing was that Tebow — ready for this?? — changed the name of his dog. Its name used to be Bronco. Now, Tebow said, “The great part is, we can change it to Bronx.“
Oh, how nice. Anyone want to guess what the cover of the NY Post or NY Daily News is gonna be tomorrow? My money is an ode to Bronx.
Nevermind that the Jets actually live in New Jersey, not New York. Maybe Brick City would have been a better name. Or Piscataway. Or Atlantic City. Man, I could go on. Apparently, so could Tebow. There’s no guarantee he’ll be in NY forever, as he’s already on his second team in three seasons.
Is the poor dog going to have to change his name to Jax when he gets traded to the Jaguars in a couple years? Or Bucs? Or Argonauts? Or whatever? That’s enough to give a guy an identity crisis. The dog, I mean, not Tebow. He knows who he is.
Oh, and no truth to the rumor I’m changing the name of my dog Biscuit to Brisket now that we live in Dallas and embrace the local BBQ. (Not totally, by the way. To me, BBQ is still pulled pork, not beef. But I’ll try to adjust.)
Anyway, it’s a circus, and it’s just getting started. I will happily watch and enjoy every part of it. Carry on, guys, carry on.
