Upon seeing that Sports Illustrated’s Peter King is predicting that the Browns might draft QB Brandon Weeden, NFL.com’s Marc Sessler pondered what, exactly, that would mean for incumbent starter Colt McCoy.
According to comments Weeden gave to The Plain Dealer, the prospect hopes it will mean the end of McCoy’s days starting games in Cleveland.
“I know Colt had a good year last year, and he’s a good football player,” Weeden said. “But I’m a competitor, and I want to play as soon as possible. I’d be excited about the opportunity to come in and compete with him and see how things pan out.”
As Sessler noted, reports of the Browns’ interest in Weeden and fellow prospect Ryan Tannehill are likely giving McCoy no shortage of headaches.
