Everyone agrees that top QB prospects Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III have bright futures, but NFL Network analysts Steve Mariucci and Kurt Warner don’t see either having much success immediately, at least in terms of wins and losses.
With the release of the 2012 NFL schedule Tuesday, the world learned who the Colts — expected to take Luck with the No. 1 pick in the draft — and the Redskins — expected to take RG3 at No. 2 — will face in 2012. As Mariucci and Warner see it, it’s going to be a rough year for both phenoms.
The pair predicted that Luck will get off to a rough start, falling to the Bears in the opener — “He’s dreaming about (Bears LB Brian) Urlacher and those guys,” Mariucci said. — before finding relative success against the Vikings, Jaguars, Browns, Titans, and Dolphins. Luck, they said, won’t win again, though, finishing the year with a 5-11 record.
Mariucci and Warner don’t like RG3 to do any better, picking his Redskins to win just three games — against the Rams, Vikings and Browns.
“I like this kid, and I like what he’s going to bring to the table, but I’ve only got three wins,” Warner said. The Redskins, he said, have a “good defense, I like a lot of their pieces, but man, that’s a rough schedule, especially down the stretch.”
The Redskins will endure a seven-game stretch in which they face the Steelers, Panthers, Eagles, Cowboys, Ravens, and Giants (twice).
