Three and out: Vote for Willis (or Allen)

Happy Friday everybody! If you follow me on Twitter, you know this is #talkaboutit Friday. Check out today’s discussion. But let’s get to the fantasy football.

Madden vote continues: I implore all of you to participate in the Madden ’13 cover vote (even though I prefer the NCAA game). One reader in Mike’s mailbag this week asked if he should avoid picking Arian Foster if the Texans running won. And poor Fabiano nearly had a heart attack thinking about it and asked all fantasy enthusiasts to vote against Foster. I agree with Mike.

I would make sure I drafted Ben Tate if Foster made the cover. I know I shouldn’t believe in the Madden Curse, and most people think it isn’t rational, but it isn’t rational why I spend so much time playing fantasy football, so it’s not a leap for me to avoid the Madden Curse. In situations like this, I like to quote Verbal Kent from “The Usual Suspects” when he said: “I don’t believe in God, but I’m afraid of him. Well I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me is Keyser Soze.” Substitute Soze for the Madden curse, here.

Seriously, vote for one of the defensive guys like Patrick Willis or Jared Allen. Because I’m not drafting the guy who lands on the cover. And why isn’t Tebow still in contention?

Richardson is a ‘special’ running back: Our Bucky Brooks was in Tuscaloosa on Thursday, and he said RB Trent Richardson “is a special running back with outstanding feet and movement skills. He is explosive and powerful when changing directions.” The biggest knock, according to Brooks, is Richardson’s pass catching skills. That’s something that can be corrected, but it also could be something to keep him off the field on third down — important to note if he lands in Cleveland or Tampa Bay. Brooks compares Richardson to Maurice Jones-Drew. Look, MJD or AD, I don’t care. Just look for Richardson to have a bright future.

Barron looks good: Since we don’t get into a lot of IDP stuff, let’s make a change by mentioning Mark Barron, who also looked good during Alabama’s pro day. I like to go after some of the top rookies in my IDP league, last year I nabbed Patrick Peterson and Von Miller (who will both be keepers for me this season). Barron is a guy I like, because if he goes to a team like the Jets or the Ravens (where our Chad Reuter has him slotted in his latest mock draft), he’s going to get a lot of chances. For that reason, he’s my top rookie IDP heading into the draft.

For the record, you can submit your fantasy questions to NFL Fantasy Live, Michael Fabiano or me on Twitter. But realize, NFL Fantasy Live has 40,000 followers, and Fabiano has 50,000. Me? Just 13. See, the odds are better that I will answer your question, so hit me up both via Twitter or via Facebook. Also be sure to catch the latest “Dave Dameshek Football Program.”
