Florida’s pro day was held on March 13, on grass, with 18 NFL teams present.
Here are the more notable Seminole prospects:
Chris Rainey, RB (5-8 3/4, 180) — Rainey, a world-class sprinter, ran 4.41 and 4.35 in the 40, did a 4.10 shuttle drill, and worked out at WR, where he showed good pass-catching skills. Should be a third-round pick.
Jaye Howard, DT (6- 3 1/8, 275) — Howard had a 24.5-inch vertical leap, an 8-foot, 9-inch broad jump and a 4.82 shuttle time. He is very athletic and had a good workout, although he needs to get stronger.
John Brantley, QB (6-2 3/4, 218) — Brantley’s 40 times were 4.82 and 4.85, with a 28-inch vertical, an 8-foot broad jump and a 4.70 shuttle time. With limited mobility and only average arm strength, he figures to be a free agent after the draft.
Deonte Thompson, WR (5-11 3/4, 198) Ran blistering 4.31 and 4.32 40s. Posted a 36 1/2-inch vertical, a 10-foot-5 broad jump, 4.40 shuttle, 6.96 three-cone and 20 strength reps. Thompson doesn’t have good hands, but he worked out at DB and looked good, even though he has no experience playing there.
