Top QB prospect Andrew Luck was satisfied with his performance Thursday at Stanford’s pro day.

“I think I wanted to come out here and put my best foot forward in front of the scouts,” Luck said in an interview with NFL Network’s Paul Burmeister and draft analyst Mike Mayock. “I thought I did that. I thought I made the throws I needed to make.”

In Mayock’s estimation, Luck made “three or four” bad throws at most.

During the workout, Burmeister and Mayock were continually impressed by Luck’s ability to deal with what they said was significant blowing wind. Luck downplayed the conditions, saying that a quarterback needs to be ready to play in any kind of weather.

“The wind, I guess, was a little factor, but you play football in the wind, the rain… and you go out there and handle it,” Luck said.

Mayock and Burmeister also admired the way that Luck was able to calm down after making a few shaky tosses. Luck said he wasn’t worried about his ability to bounce back.

“I realized I had 46 throws to go,” Luck said, “so I knew I could make it up at that point.”

Luck said he’s “confident in my own football skills” and is not worried that some have criticized his arm strength. “People can have their opinions… but I’m very confident that I can go out there and make every throw that needs to be made,” he said.

Luck, who is expected to be selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, said “it’s nice to be in this position,” adding that “it’s a fun time and I’m thankful to be here.”

He said “it was absolutely worth it” to stay at Stanford an extra year rather than come out early for the 2011 draft. “Not to say every moment was fun and everything was all great and rosy, but I learned a lot and feel much better prepared for this step now,” he said. “I think I understand the game more.”
