After suggesting that any team that moves to acquire Broncos QB Tim Tebow would be doing so to chase ticket sales, former NFL LB Joey Porter made a pop-culture analogy that is sure to rile Tebow’s fans.
“He’s the Justin Bieber of the NFL,” Porter said on NFL Network.
“Everybody had Tebow Fever last year. They went crazy for what he did; I mean, but it’s not like he really won games the traditional way,” Porter continued. “He won eight games, and the way he did it was a lot of good defense, a lot of good plays, onside kicks, the field-goal kicker had the best year he ever had.”
Porter did allow that “it’s good to have a Justin Bieber,” though he clearly doesn’t think much of Tebow’s long-term viability as a starting quarterback.
